Thrown Together: A Valentine's Wheel Throwing Date Night
When: Sunday, February 15th, 6:00–9:00 PM
Where: Once and Future Things, 3956 S. Hudson Ave., Tulsa, OK
Who’s Invited: Adults only (21+)
Thrown Together: A Valentine’s Pottery Date Night
Celebrate love in all its forms with a hands-on Valentine’s pottery experience designed for couples who want something meaningful, creative, and a little messy—in the best way. Skip the crowded restaurants and spend the evening side by side on the pottery wheel, no experience required.
This two-person package includes an artist-led wheel-throwing demonstration and everything you need for a memorable night together. Each couple will enjoy a box of Valentine’s chocolates, and a bottle of sparkling wine*. All participants must be 21+.
To capture the romance, a professional photographer will be on site throughout the event. Starting at 7pm, after the instructional demonstration, she’ll spend the first hour capturing candid moments of couples throwing on the wheel, followed by 15 minutes of dedicated couple portraits for each pair—so you’ll leave with beautiful images as well as handmade keepsakes.
During this intimate three-hour experience, absolute beginners will learn the basics of wheel throwing together. You and your partner will each throw your own piece on the wheel with guided instruction - laughter encouraged. Your instructor will handle the finishing touches of your pieces after the event (trimming, firing, and glazing)—allowing you to stay present and enjoy the experience together.
Tuition is $300 per couple (includes both seats—no need to purchase twice). Each session is limited to just four couples for a relaxed, inclusive, hands-on studio atmosphere.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A brief, detailed wheel-throwing demonstration to begin
Five 1-lb balls of clay per participant (Enough to practice and end up with one finished piece)
One piece made per person; choose one favorite to keep
One glaze color selected per finished piece
Instructor finishing (trimming, firing, and glazing) after the event
Professional photography throughout the event plus dedicated couple portraits
Finished pottery and photo access codes available approximately four weeks after the event
Know Before You Go
Clay can be messy—wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
Trimmed nails and close-toed shoes are recommended
Comfortable seating is provided, but participants should be able to sit at a pottery wheel for ~2 hours
The studio is wheelchair accessible, and staff are happy to accommodate mobility needs—please reach out with any questions
*Sparkling wine included. 💘
